The baby next to us had a funny shaped head – sort of a semi cone head. There were “baby mangers” next to us – babies are loud on planes but what can you do? It hurts their ears.

Surprised and delighted that our transatlantic seats, for which we paid extra, were huge – coach but bulkhead exit row with absurd extra leg room. Young Asian women fashion: very short shorts – almost as short as bathing suit bottoms. We boarded a plane to Frankfurt after a five hour layover in Seattle – nice airport with good places to eat (I had a Japanese veg.noodle thing and Margo had fish and chips – she loves it). I’ll try to imagine I’m like the main character from the book/movie Up In the Air – he actually loves being on airplanes. It is fun taking short flights, I guess, and hanging around airports is always fun – unlike sitting on an airplane. I don’t even want to know how long it is going to be but I’m pretty sure we don’t get there until tomorrow. At this point we are in Seattle awaiting our long flight to Germany. The flights were short – Portland, then Seattle. I think I must’ve gotten at least five hours of sleep. I don’t recall ever getting up that early. Early to bed because we had to get up at 3:15AM to get to the airport at 4:00AM for our flight.

The drive was as smoky as Beijing because of the local forest fires, but we arrived at the motel fed and ready for bed. One more case here, another there and next thing you know you’re there all day.įortunately I had a cardiologist appointment in the afternoon so there was a definite cut-off time for me.Īnyway – we ended up leaving Klamath Falls, Oregon at 5:30PM, driving to Medford and eating in the car on the way out of town. But the issue was that I was scheduled to be in surgery on Wednesday morning, theoretically from 7:45 until noon. That’s just as well – most of the stuff I hadn’t yet packed was still in use. The most important step is making a list, and I did that over the weekend, gathered about 2/3 of the stuff together Monday, but I didn’t actually pack, or complete the gathering until about an hour before before leaving.
